Biography

Originally from the UK, Oliver Pratt completed his BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees in Geology from the University of Manchester and the University of Exeter, respectively. After a brief stint working in Africa (Ethiopia and Mauritania), he relocated to Perth to work in mineral exploration in the Pilbara and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. He returned to the university in 2017 to complete an MSc in Environmental Science at the University of Western Australia, focusing on the importance of off-channel wetlands for fish in the Fitzroy River, WA. In continuing his academic journey, he is currently pursuing a PhD, with an anticipated completion date of 2024, investigating floodplain ecosystems and river-floodplain connectivity in intermittent tropical rivers. His research particularly aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to addressing vital environmental issues.
