Biography

Oliver Wieben, PhD, received his undergraduate degree (Vordiplom) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hanover, Germany, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He earned his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He worked as a scientist at the University Hospital Freiburg, Germany before joining the faculty of the Departments of Medical Physics and Radiology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 2008. Dr. Wieben's research interests focus on the development of rapid cardiovascular imaging methods using non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to improve clinically relevant diagnoses. His research specifically investigates methods to enhance data acquisition and image reconstruction for rapid MR imaging, as well as post-processing techniques to facilitate comprehensive, non-invasive hemodynamic assessment of the vascular system.
