Biography

Olivera Gajic is a New York-based costume designer and educator known for her work in theater, opera, dance, film, and performance art. She began her career designing costumes for Serbian theater and television while studying at Belgrade’s Academy of Fine Arts. In 1999, Gajic moved to the United States and received a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design. Since then, she has credited over 250 theater, opera, dance, and film productions, with notable works including ‘Jedermann’ at the Salzburg Festival in Austria and the film ‘Seagull’. Gajic has collaborated extensively with esteemed institutions such as Arden, Trinity Repertory, and Juilliard School. Her designs have been showcased across various prominent theaters including the American Repertory Theater and the Guthrie Theater. She is particularly proud of her contributions to new works created with acclaimed interdisciplinary ensembles and theater companies such as Pig Iron and Talking Band. Gajic's work has been recognized in national exhibitions, including the Prague Quadrennial. She has received numerous accolades for her contributions to costume design, including the Barrymore Award and the Bessie Award for Outstanding Visual Design.
