Biography

Olivia is a Research Fellow in the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Group (HEHTA) at the University of Glasgow, where she works on evaluations of complex public health interventions and explores the social determinants of health. Her approach emphasizes stakeholder engagement and collaborative research design, working closely with public sector partners, community organizations, and policy influencers. Currently, Olivia partners with local authorities and community organizations to support evidence-based decision-making in large-scale collaborative programs, such as the Glasgow Health Determinants Research Collaboration and PHIRST Fusion. Her work involves facilitating workshops with diverse stakeholders to co-produce evaluation approaches responsive to policy and practice needs. Olivia's research background spans neuroscience and public health; she completed her PhD in Translational Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh from 2016 to 2021, supported by a Wellcome Trust studentship, investigating cognitive changes linked to cerebral small vessel disease using cognitive brain imaging data. Prior to her PhD, she had experience in dementia research at University College London and implemented a clustered randomized controlled trial in care homes. Olivia holds an MSc in Language Sciences and Neuroscience from UCL and a BA in English Language from Cardiff University. She is actively involved in building evaluation capacity within community organizations through monthly Evaluation Surgeries and co-chairs the School's Athena Swan LGBTQ+ group.
