Biography

Dr. Olivia Hershorn joined the General Surgery team as a Colon Rectal Surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre in August 2025. She was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill University. Dr. Hershorn completed her medical degree at McGill University and pursued her residency training in General Surgery at the University of Manitoba, where she also earned a Master of Science in Surgery. She subsequently completed a Colon Rectal Surgery Fellowship at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Dr. Hershorn’s research focuses on mixed-methods approaches, patient-centered outcomes, and quality improvement, with particular attention to advanced endoscopy and transanal techniques in rectal cancer care. Her clinical practice includes advanced laparoscopic and transanal procedures, and she has expertise in the management of colon rectal cancer, benign colorectal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal conditions.
