Olivia Keiser is an epidemiologist and scientific group leader at the Institute of Global Health in Geneva. After completing her Master’s degree in Statistics at the University of Neuchâtel, she joined the Institute of Social & Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern for her PhD. Her doctoral research focused on the outcomes of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in low-income settings through collaborative networks such as ART-LINC and IeDEA Southern Africa. Olivia gained first-hand experience in the scale-up of ART in Malawi and South Africa, while also working on HIV and Hepatitis C projects in high-income countries. She defended her PhD thesis in November 2009, which explored the clinical and public health epidemiology of ART. Following her postdoctoral work at ISPM and a PROSPER fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation, she was appointed group leader of the HIV/Hepatitis group at ISPM. In 2017, Olivia moved her research group to IGH in Geneva. Her interdisciplinary research combines mathematical modeling, cohort data, data-text mining, systematic reviews, and qualitative research techniques, focusing on HIV and Hepatitis in Switzerland and abroad. Her group is expanding its work to infectious diseases, with a keen interest in studying the interactions between communicable and non-communicable diseases.
