Biography

Olivier Beauchet is a professor at the University of Montreal, specializing in health sciences and medical sciences. He has a medical degree from the University of St-Étienne in France, where he also obtained specialties in neurology, internal medicine, and geriatrics. Additionally, he holds a master's in neuropsychology and a doctorate in human motor skills and disability from the same university. Prior to joining the University of Montreal in 2020, he was a professor of geriatrics at McGill University and held the Dr. Joseph Kaufmann Chair in Geriatric Medicine from 2015 to 2020. He directed the Centre of Excellence on Longevity at McGill University and served as a researcher at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research. His research focuses on the interplay between motor skills and cognition, the impacts of art on the health of the elderly, and the vulnerabilities of older adults. He has developed a telepractice clinical tool (ESOGER) to combat health deterioration and social isolation among vulnerable seniors. Beauchet is also a co-holder of a research chair in creative economy and well-being, collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to enhance the health benefits of art.
