Biography

Olivier Coibion is a Professor of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin specializing in macroeconomic topics. His research focuses on monetary policy, agents' expectations, inflation measurement, commodity prices, inequality, the efficacy of stimulus payments, and policy communication. Coibion received his BA in Economics and Political Economy from the University of California at Berkeley in 1999 and completed his PhD at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 2007. Before joining UT Austin, he held positions at the International Monetary Fund, the Council of Economic Advisers, and the Brookings Institution, as well as at the College of William and Mary. He is also affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research.
