Biography

Olivier Ferlatte is an associate professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the School of Public Health at the University of Montreal and a regular researcher at the Centre for Research on Public Health (CreSP). He holds a bachelor's degree in sexology from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a master's and doctorate in public health from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. His research focuses on the relationship between stigma, substance use, and mental health among 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities. He is a recognized expert on syndemics and intersectional approaches, and the findings of his research have influenced policies and the development of programs aimed at improving the health of 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals. His scientific work employs several methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, artistic methods, mixed approaches) and is motivated by a particular interest in community engagement and the participation of those affected by health inequalities as research partners. Mr. Ferlatte is the director of Qollab, a community-based collaborative research lab on the mental health of 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals. He holds a Junior 1 salary grant from the Quebec Research Fund – Health.
