Dr. Olivier Pardo leads the Cellular Regulatory Networks Lab at Imperial College London, focusing on lung cancer, the most common cancer killer in the UK. His research addresses the reasons for treatment failure, such as the development of chemoresistance and the emergence of distant metastasis. The lab investigates the mechanisms behind therapy resistance and has particularly highlighted the role of the S6 kinase family in these processes, alongside the impact of growth factor FGF-2 on chemotherapeutic drug resistance. Using a combination of traditional biochemical methods, molecular biology techniques, high-throughput screening, drug discovery, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics, Dr. Pardo collaborates with various academic and private institutions across the UK. His lab, part of the CRUK Cancer Center, promotes a dynamic working environment that encourages innovative approaches in cell signaling and cancer biology. He has a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Paris V University and completed his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Imperial College in 2002. Dr. Pardo has served as an associate editor for the journal Oncogene since 2019 and has been actively involved in teaching, having directed the MRes Cancer Biology course at Imperial from 2006-2021. He is currently seeking motivated scientists to join his team for a new PhD position beginning in October 2025.
