Olivier Verscheure received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL), in June 1999. In July 1999, he joined IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in New York as a member of the research staff, where he managed the Exploratory Stream Analytics research group until 2010. In July 2010, he transferred to the newly established IBM Research lab in Ireland, playing a major consulting role in the formation of the lab and leading a technical management team of 40 people. His current research interests include stream big data mining, geospatial analysis, and large-scale data management applicable to personalized health medicine, Intelligent Transportation Systems, telecommunications, smarter buildings, Smart Grids, and wastewater management. Verscheure has received multiple IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards, has published nearly 100 research papers that have garnered 2,400 citations in top international forums, and has been regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally. He has invented more than 40 international patents and has chaired major international technical conferences and workshops in his research areas. He has also served on PhD committees at major universities.
