Dr. Olle Björneholm

Biography

Olle Björneholm is a Professor at Uppsala University in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, specializing in Molecular Cluster Physics and Chemical Bio-Molecular Physics. His academic journey began at Uppsala University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1986, followed by a PhD in surface physics in 1992, focusing on adsorbate core-hole excitation decay dynamics. He has held several positions, including postdoctoral researcher at DESY in Hamburg and held roles as a university lecturer before becoming a professor in 2006. Björneholm's research interests are deeply rooted in the examination of phenomena related to electronic and geometric structures in liquids, clusters, and nanoparticles, particularly through the lens of x-ray-induced dynamics. He employs synchrotron radiation-based spectroscopic techniques to investigate ultra-fast dynamics and radiation damage associated with materials. Additionally, he directs the Uppsala University Center for Photon Science and chairs advisory groups for the Swedish Research Council, contributing to collaborations that foster advancements in high-tech laboratories. His prolific research has led to over 200 published papers in international peer-reviewed journals, achieving significant citations in both Web of Science and Google Scholar, underscoring his impactful contributions to the field.
