Dr. Olmo Silva

Biography

Olmo Silva is a renowned professor specializing in Real Estate Economics and Finance at the London School of Economics (LSE). He has been a faculty member in the Department since September 2007 and has held significant roles including Research Director from 2013 to 2016. His research primarily focuses on economics education, entrepreneurship, and urban real estate economics. Prior to his tenure at LSE, he worked as a full-time research officer at the Centre for Economic Performance from September 2004 to August 2007. Olmo's work has been published in several prestigious journals such as the Economic Journal, the Journal of European Economic Association, and the Journal of Urban Economics, reflecting his expertise in the field. He has also contributed to the IZA network and CESifo group as a research fellow. Olmo has a strong educational background, having earned his BSc and MSc in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan and his Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence. He has further enriched his academic experience as a Marie Curie Visiting Fellow at University College London and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. His diverse research interests encompass applied microeconometrics, particularly in the contexts of the UK, Italy, and broader European markets, where he analyzes areas such as real estate, banking finance, and education within the third sector.
