Dr. Oluwabunmi Tokede

Biography

Oluwabunmi Bunmi Tokede is an Associate Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry with joint appointments in the Department of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Orthodontics. She focuses on research that utilizes informatics to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Ibadan in 2006 and then practiced general dentistry while conducting research for the World Health Organization. She continued her education in the U.S., where she completed her Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health in 2010 and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard School of Dental Medicine from 2010 to 2013. Dr. Tokede has taught oral health policy and epidemiology at Harvard and has held various roles including Clinical Instructor at the Harvard Dental Center. She completed her Orthodontics residency at Harvard and received her DMSc in Oral Biology in 2021, becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics shortly thereafter. Dr. Tokede has over 30 peer-reviewed publications to her name and has received numerous accolades including the Harvard Presidential Scholarship and the University of Ibadan Best Graduating Student Award.
