Biography

Oluwatoyin Adeleke is an Associate Professor at the College of Pharmacy, Dalhousie University. Her research primarily focuses on novel drug delivery systems, including polymeric biomaterials, pharmaceutical formulations, nanomedicines, and computational modeling and simulation. Adeleke's work emphasizes the design of innovative drug delivery technologies aimed at effectively managing human ailments through advanced in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo evaluation strategies. She strives to enhance pharmacotherapeutic efficacy while improving production cost and patient compliance, ultimately optimizing patient care and affordability. She has received notable awards, such as the University of Witwatersrand Wall of Fame in 2022 and the L’Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Fellowship in 2014/2015. Prior to her appointment, she completed her Doctorate and Postdoctoral research focused on Pharmaceutics at the University of the Witwatersrand and Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Rutgers University, respectively. Adeleke also engages in research training activities and currently leads a laboratory focused on drug delivery innovations.
