Biography

I am a senior lecturer in animal production science with research primarily focused on ruminant nutrition, nitrogen partitioning, use efficiency, animal behavior, and welfare. I develop strategies to mitigate the negative environmental footprint of livestock farming systems, concentrating on designing future farming systems that are environmentally, socially, and financially sustainable. This includes testing the integration of new technologies like plantain forage and developing infrastructures such as stand-off feeding pads to reduce farming's environmental impact. I am currently a member of the management committee for the New Zealand Society of Animal Production (NZSAP).
