Dr. Omar El Housni

Biography

Omar El Housni is an Assistant Professor at Cornell Tech, affiliated with the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from Columbia University, where he conducted research under the supervision of advisor Vineet Goyal. El Housni graduated with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. His research interests lie broadly in decision-making under uncertainty, focusing on the development of optimization models and algorithms to tackle a wide range of operational problems. Specifically, his current research emphasizes the design of robust and efficient algorithms for dynamic optimization problems characterized by uncertainty, incorporating areas such as revenue management, assortment optimization, and online matchings. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous academic talks and has contributed significantly to the academic community by serving as a jury member for various mathematics competitions. Notably, he has received recognition for his teaching excellence from Cornell students, including the 'Students Choice Award' and the 'Graduate Outstanding Instructor Award'.
