Biography

Omar Khan is a clinical assistant professor at the Cumming School of Medicine and a medical oncologist at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. He completed his Medical Doctorate at the University of Calgary in 2013 and underwent residency training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the same institution from 2013 to 2018. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in Breast Cancer Health Administration from 2018 to 2019. In 2020, he earned an executive MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Khan's current clinical practice focuses on breast cancer and sarcoma tumor groups, and his research interests revolve around the application of artificial intelligence in clinical cancer care. He has been involved in clinical trials at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and serves as a co-investigator on a grant from the Alberta Cancer Foundation that aims to define the tumor immune cell architecture in undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. His contributions to oncology have been recognized with awards such as the Novartis Oncology Young Canadian Investigator Award in 2017 and the Young Oncologist Merit Award from the European Society of Medical Oncology in 2018.
