Omar Khan joined Carnegie Mellon University as the Head of the School of Architecture in August 2020, after serving as the chair of the Department of Architecture at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, for seven years. Under his leadership, the department initiated new graduate programs and developed industry collaborations, substantially improving its facilities and reputation through pedagogical innovations in design-build experiential learning and research-focused education. Khan received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and a Master in Design and Computation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Aesthetics Computation Group at the MIT Media Lab. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and he has received fellowships and grants for his contributions to the field.
