Biography

Omar Madhloom joined the Law School in August 2023. Prior to joining the University of Southampton, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, where he developed the Law School’s Global Law Clinic and public legal education programme. He is a member of University of Bristol Law School’s Curriculum Review and Athena SWAN committees. Omar holds postgraduate degrees in jurisprudence and clinical legal pedagogy and has developed hugely successful university law clinics. For his contributions to pro bono legal services, Omar was shortlisted for the ‘Best In-house Solicitor’ category at the Annual LawWorks Pro Bono Awards in 2023 and won the 'Best Contribution In-House Solicitor' at the LawWorks Annual Pro Bono Awards in 2024. He is currently a member of QAA’s panel responsible for drafting the Subject Benchmark for Law in 2023 and serves on the Education Training Committee of the Law Society England and Wales, as well as the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. He is also the chair of the Law Society England and Wales since 2004 and involved with various projects focusing on the application of Kant’s philosophy in clinical legal education.
