Omar M. Ramahi is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He was born in Jerusalem, Palestine and earned BS degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Computer Engineering (Highest Honors) from Oregon State University in 1990. Dr. Ramahi received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the supervision of Professor Raj Mittra. He has held post-doctoral visiting fellowship positions at the University of Illinois, supervised by Professors Y. T. Lo and Raj Mittra. Prior to joining the University of Waterloo, he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation (currently HP) and was a member of the Alpha Server Product Development Group. Dr. Ramahi joined the faculty of the James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland as an Assistant Professor in 2000 and later became a tenured Associate Professor. He has authored and co-authored over 600 journal and conference technical papers and has contributed to the book 'EMI/EMC Computational Modeling Handbook'. Dr. Ramahi has received numerous awards including the University of Maryland Pi Tau Sigma Purple Cam Shaft Award and the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society Technical Achievement Award, and was elected as an IEEE Fellow.
