Dr. Omari Rush

Biography

Omari Rush engages his passion for the arts as a profession, focusing on deepening the impact of creative expression within communities. He serves as the executive director of CultureSource in Detroit, where he advances efforts for the arts to thrive. His civic service includes an appointment to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, where he served as council chair for the Governor of Michigan, as well as his term as chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. Currently, he is a board member for SeaChange Capital Partners and the Song Foundation, and is involved with the Ann Arbor Treeline Conservancy. Omari earned degrees in music from the University of Michigan and Florida State University. He has further extended his love for learning by teaching at the University of Michigan and completing fellowships with the Salzburg Global Forum and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals. He has also served on research advisory committees for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
