Dr. Omid Omidvar

Biography

Omid Omidvar is an Associate Professor in Organization Studies at Warwick Business School. His research examines the complex interplay between digital computational technologies and organizational processes. Omid investigates how the integration of algorithmic ensembles transforms decision-making, routines, and organizational adaptation, with particular attention to the societal implications of such changes. His work on algorithmic inertia reveals how organizations' reliance on predictive algorithms hampers their ability to respond to dynamic environments. Additionally, his research explores how the use of digital technologies in distributed contexts gives rise to novel forms of organizing that emerge from digital affordances. Drawing from sociological process theories, his studies span multiple contexts including financial institutions, open collaboration initiatives, and public-private partnerships. His research has been published in leading management journals such as the Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management Studies, MIT Sloan Management Review, Organization Studies, British Journal of Management, and Long Range Planning.
