Biography

Ondrej Hovorka received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA, in 2007. His postdoctoral research included stays at CIC nanoGUNE Consolider in San Sebastián, Spain (2008-2011) and the Physics Department at the University of York, UK (2012-2013). He has been a permanent staff member at the University of Southampton since September 2013. His research interests focus on developing nanoscale autonomous systems for applications in medicine, data science, and machine learning, along with computational magnetism. He is a member of the Computational Engineering Design Group and has contributed to projects such as Skyrmionics and magnetic excitations in low-energy devices. Hovorka teaches programming languages including Python and C/C++, as well as principles of data science and software engineering, numerical methods, and their applications. He has several completed projects under his belt and collaborates with notable researchers in his fields of expertise.
