Professor Dr. Onno Bouwmeester

Biography

Onno Bouwmeester is an Associate Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Management Consulting and Business Ethics. He holds MSc degrees in Philosophy and Economics from the University of Amsterdam and completed his PhD in Business Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2008. With over two decades of experience in academia, Onno has served as the head of the management consulting section and was a member of the department's management team from 2010 to 2021. He is also the program coordinator for the MSc in Management Consulting. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of management consulting and business ethics, exploring themes such as the rhetorical strategies of consultants, moral disengagement, and the psychological stresses related to consultancy work. Onno has authored several monographs and has been actively involved in executive education, mentoring numerous master's and PhD students. He has also been part of projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
