Dr. Orazio Attanasio

Biography

Orazio Attanasio is the Cowles Professor of Economics at Yale University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has served as a Senior Fellow at the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis Development and has held various academic positions including visiting professorships at Stanford University and the University of Chicago. He obtained his PhD from the London School of Economics. His work is recognized for its contributions to Development Economics, specifically concerning household consumption, saving behavior, labor supply, and risk sharing. Attanasio has directed evaluations of conditional cash transfer programs in Colombia and has assessed the impacts of various educational financing initiatives in Mexico, India, and Ghana. His efforts have earned him awards such as the Carlos Diaz Alejandro Prize and Klaus Jacobs Research Prize. He has been an editor for numerous economic journals and has been involved with the Econometric Society, serving as an elected officer.
