Dr. Oren Sussman

Biography

Oren's areas of expertise include macroeconomics, international finance, and financial distress. His research focuses on financial crises, financial constraints in the business cycle, economic analysis of insolvency law, cross-border insolvency, and sovereign debt, along with exchange-rate volatility. Oren's work combines insights from macroeconomics, law, finance, and economics. He publishes widely in leading journals in the field and has co-authored works with prominent academics. Oren has provided an international perspective through research and has held teaching positions in Israel, America, and Europe. He earned his BA, MA, and PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, lectured from 1992 to 1996, and was appointed as a senior lecturer at Ben Gurion University. After joining the Saïd Business School, he held visiting positions at MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, CEMFI (Madrid), and the London Business School. He has served as a committee member in various conferences and annual meetings of the European Finance Association. His research deeply explores the complex relationships between financial markets and the broader economy, having involved actual policy advisory roles for government bodies.
