Dr. Oriane Couchoux

Biography

Oriane Couchoux is an Assistant Professor at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She holds a BBA, a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting, and a MSc in Public Accounting from HEC Montreal, as well as a PhD in Management from Queen’s University. With a Canadian CPA background, her research primarily focuses on public accounting, audit, and financial reporting. Dr. Couchoux investigates how accounting rules and practices are understood, experienced, and enacted within professional and personal contexts. She examines the roles of auditors, board directors, and professional accountants in navigating regulatory demands to produce quality financial information. Additionally, Dr. Couchoux studies how parents, particularly mothers, manage financial responsibilities while making sense of economic pressures associated with their children. Her work has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work (CRIW), and the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research.
