Dr. Orkun Akseli

Biography

Orkun Akseli is a Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Manchester, where he serves as the Academic Director of the Manchester Law Technology Initiative from 2022 to 2024. He joined the Law School in 2021 and has previously taught at Robert Gordon University, Newcastle University, and Durham University. Professor Akseli holds an LLB from Dokuz Eylul University, an LLM from the University of Georgia, and a PhD from the University of Manchester. His research focuses on the harmonization and modernization of secured transactions laws, and he actively participates in law reform initiatives both nationally and internationally. He has published a monograph titled 'International Secured Transactions Law: Facilitation of Credit, International Conventions Instruments' and has co-edited several publications. Additionally, Professor Akseli has played significant roles in various committees and peer review colleges related to law and policy development. He is involved in teaching courses on Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Secured Transactions, and International Banking Law, and supervises PhD students in these areas of expertise.
