Professor Dr. Ornthanalai Chayawat

Biography

Ornthanalai Chayawat is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He joined the faculty in 2012 after completing his Ph.D. in Finance at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University. His research interests encompass risk management, investment, derivative securities, and financial econometrics. He is currently teaching courses in Financial Risk Management at Rotman. Chayawat has secured research funding from a variety of organizations including the Q-group, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Canadian Derivatives Institute (CDI), and Global Risk Institute (GRI). His research papers have been published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Monetary Economics, and Review of Finance. Chayawat has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors from McGill University, located in Montreal, Canada, and he is involved in supervising Master's and PhD students in finance, addressing various topics such as asset management, banking, econometrics, and capital markets.
