Biography

Prof. Oscar P. Bruno focuses on the development of accurate, high-performance numerical solvers for partial differential equations (PDEs) that model realistic scientific and engineering configurations. His research interests encompass the theory and numerical methods of partial differential equations, computational science including computational electromagnetics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and computational solid mechanics. He also specializes in numerical analysis, multiphysics modeling, and simulation, as well as mathematical physics. His work addresses significant theoretical and computational challenges related to PDE theory, such as intricate or singular geometries, solution singularities, resonances, nonlinearities, high frequencies, and dispersion. Prof. Bruno has developed Fourier Continuation (FC) integral-equation techniques in his lab, which successfully tackle these challenges and enable the accurate solution of previously intractable PDE problems of fundamental importance in science and engineering.
