Oscar Cordero Llana is an Associate Professor in Stem Cell Biology at the University of Bristol. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Oviedo in 2005, followed by an M.Sc. in Molecular Neuroscience from the University of Bristol in 2007. He completed a PhD focused on novel neurotrophic factors and their application in neurodegenerative conditions. Following his PhD, he joined the University of Oxford within the Molecular Neurodegeneration Group where he researched mechanisms leading to motor neuron death in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In 2015, he returned to Bristol, initially as a Lecturer and later took on the role of Co-Director for the MSc in Stem Cells and Regeneration in 2020. His research tackles brain degeneration and regeneration, promoting the importance of glial cells in neuroscience. He has led significant projects funded by organizations like Parkinson’s UK and is actively involved in education, focusing on interactive and diverse teaching practices.
