Professor Dr. Oscar Cornejo

Biography

Oscar Rene Cornejo is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP). He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Yale School of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cooper Union. Cornejo's work draws on personal experiences and historical archives, focusing on social issues and community engagement through art. He co-founded the Latin American Community Art Project, which promotes intercultural awareness and community art education. His diverse research interests include adaptive reuse, architectural design, and the intersection of technology and art. Cornejo is also a dedicated educator, having taught at various prestigious institutions, including Hunter College and Yale School of Art. His artwork has been exhibited widely, with a focus on participatory and collaborative planning that reflects on social policy and sustainability. He continues to contribute to the field through presentations and exhibitions that showcase the duality of art and social commentary.
