Biography

Oscar Pedraza is a Research Associate at King's College London's Department of War Studies, involved in the Mapping Injury project led by Professor Vivienne Jabri. His research is funded by the ERC Advanced Grant and investigates the concept of ‘injury’ across multiple manifestations in the Global South, with a focus on Colombia. Oscar has a PhD in Anthropology from the City University of New York, Graduate Center. Prior to his current role, he held positions at the UCLA Institute of Genetics and Society, the University of Southern California’s Center for History, Law and Culture, and participated in the Human Rights and the Arts program at Bard College. He has co-directed a collaboration with the Colombian Truth Commission and Forensic Architecture, working as a fellow researcher. His current work engages with themes of environment and violence, especially those articulated through the media and material struggles in the context of extractivism in Colombia. Oscar is also a co-founder of Plano Negativo, a visual investigations collective focused on social movements and political violence.
