Biography

Osmar Zaiane is a Professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta, specializing in Computing Science. He has a distinguished academic background with a B.Sc. Honours in Computer Science Management from the University of Tunis, and two M.Sc. degrees—one in Electronics from Paris XI University and another in Computer Science from Laval University. He is particularly engaged in Data Mining, Web Mining, Text Mining, Social Network Analysis, and Content-Based Information Retrieval. His recent work emphasizes knowledge discovery from large databases and multimedia repositories, particularly pertaining to web mining and user behavior analysis. He also has significant interests in the visualization and manipulation of large data collections. In addition to his research, he teaches several courses including CMPUT 175 - Introduction to Foundations of Computation II.
