Biography

Osvaldo Fonseca is a researcher with a focus on epidemiology, particularly the impacts of weather and climate change on human health. He graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and furthered his education with a Master's degree in Preventive Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Veterinary Science. Osvaldo has been involved in epidemiology research since 2006 and currently holds a position as a Senior Research Assistant. His research interests include modeling the spatial and spatiotemporal distribution of diseases, with applications in Geographic Information Systems and Network Analysis in Epidemiology. He participates in studies investigating risk factors related to COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and deaths, as well as other health outcomes influenced by environmental conditions. Osvaldo is a group member in Anne-Marie Fors Connolly's lab, working on projects that assess the health impacts of weather types in the context of climatic and demographic changes in Sweden.
