Biography

Otti D'Huys is a researcher specializing in dynamical systems theory, particularly focusing on delay differential equations and network dynamics applied to photonics. He completed his entire education at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium, earning his MSc in Physics in 2007. His master thesis involved studying the dynamics of delay-coupled lasers within the Applied Physics Research Group. Following this, he pursued a PhD with the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), focusing on the synchronization of small networks of delay-coupled oscillators in relation to semiconductor lasers, which he completed in 2011. D'Huys then transitioned to a postdoctoral position at the University of Würzburg in Germany, where he investigated the fundamental properties of delayed chaotic systems and the interplay between noise and delay. He later moved to the United States to continue his postdoctoral research at Duke University, where he worked on the dynamics of information processing in experimental time-delay electronic networks. From September 2016 to August 2020, D'Huys served as a lecturer (assistant professor) at Aston University in Birmingham, UK, focusing on theoretical stochastic effects in delayed networks and neuromorphic photonics. In September 2020, he joined Maastricht University as a lecturer in the Department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering.
