Biography

Ouafa Sakka is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She earned her BBA in Accounting from the Institut Superieur de Gestion in Tunisia, followed by an MSc in Management Control and a PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from HEC Montreal. Dr. Sakka has been a faculty member at Sprott since 2008, teaching financial and managerial accounting courses at the undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels. Her research integrates various fields within accounting, focusing particularly on internal controls and decision-making processes. She has conducted extensive research on project control information management in information system projects and the internal control systems in small to medium-sized enterprises. Dr. Sakka's contributions have been recognized with presentations at national and international conferences as well as publications in leading journals such as Information & Management and the Journal of Small Business Management. Recently, she was awarded the SSHRC Insight Development Grant for a collaborative project analyzing the quality of internal audits in the federal government. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the critical role of accounting in decision-making and its impact on company performance and success.
