Owen Addison is a Professor of Oral Rehabilitation at King's College London and an Honorary NHS Consultant in Restorative Dentistry. He qualified as a dentist from the University of Birmingham in 2001, and completed his PhD in Biomaterials in 2007. After a five-year specialist clinical training, he was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Birmingham in 2007, and became a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2012. In 2015, he was promoted to Chair in Applied Biomaterials. He held the ADA&C Endowed Chair in Oral Health Translational Research at the University of Alberta, Canada, from 2016 to 2019 before returning to KCL. His research is highly interdisciplinary, operating at the interface of life, physical, and clinical sciences, with a focus on early clinical translation. Dr. Addison has received funding from multiple sources, including EPSRC and NIHR, and has been recognized nationally and internationally for his work. He was the recipient of the National Institute for Health Research Clinician Scientist Fellowship in 2010 and received the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award - Young Investigator in 2016. He was appointed Head of the Centre for Oral, Clinical & Translational Sciences in 2023.
