Biography

Owen Patashnick is a Heilbronn Professor of Pure Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at King's College London. He received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2000 under the supervision of Spencer Bloch. Currently, he holds a joint appointment at the University of Bristol. Previously, he has worked as an Assistant Research Professor and Visiting Professor at Duke University, and as a Research Associate at Ben Gurion University. His research interests include Arithmetic Geometry, Periods, Values of L-functions, Motives, and Algebraic Cycles. He has contributed significantly to the field, continuing the strong tradition of research in number theory at King's. His work is supported by the London School of Geometry and Number Theory, which recently received a £5.6m EPSRC award for its Centre for Doctoral Training, jointly run with Imperial College London. Patashnick's teaching includes advanced topics in algebraic cycles and modular forms, and he is actively involved in promoting discussions around p-adic variations in classical theory.
