Dr. Owen Young

Biography

Owen Young is a cellist and lecturer at Berklee College of Music. He joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in August 1991 and has collaborated frequently in chamber music concerts and festivals, performing as a soloist with numerous orchestras. Young is a founding member of the innovative chamber ensemble Innuendo and has had his performances broadcast on National Public Radio and other major networks. His extensive festival appearances include Tanglewood, Aspen, Banff, and others. Young has served on the faculties of the Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, and Longy School of Music, and is actively involved in Project STEP, which focuses on string training for students of color. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Yale University and was a Tanglewood Music Center Fellow from 1986 to 1987. His past performances include sharing the stage with renowned artists like James Taylor during televised concerts.
