Biography

Oya Celiktutan is a Reader in AI Robotics at King's College London, where she leads the Social AI & Robotics Laboratory within the Department of Engineering. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from Uludag University and both a Master's and PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, Turkey. Dr. Celiktutan completed her doctoral studies as a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon in France. After her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Queen Mary University London, the University of Cambridge, and Imperial College London before joining King's College London in 2018. Her research interests are primarily focused on multimodal machine learning and the development of autonomous agents, particularly robots and virtual agents capable of seamless interaction with humans. She has received funding from the EPSRC and the Royal Society, and her work has been recognized with several awards, including the EPSRC New Investigator Award in 2020 and multiple conference paper awards. Dr. Celiktutan was promoted to Reader in AI Robotics in August 2024.
