Biography

Ozan Evkaya is a University Teacher in Statistics at the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Middle East Technical University, awarded in August 2018. His previous academic roles include postdoctoral positions at Padova University and KU Leuven, as well as a visiting researcher position at TU Dresden. With a solid foundation in both statistics and actuarial science, Ozan has a strong interest in the applications of statistical methods in the insurance environment, particularly in the area of copulas. He also aims to enhance his programming skills in R and Python, and is actively engaged in organizing workshops to further statistical learning. His involvement in professional communities includes co-organizing the Technology Enhanced Mathematical Sciences Education seminars at the School of Mathematics and being a member of the EdibnR community in Edinburgh. Ozan's academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in June 2009, followed by a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science in August 2012, both from Middle East Technical University.
