Özgüç Bertuğ Çapunaman is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) CREATE, focusing on construction robotics and machine learning. He completed his PhD in Architecture, and is a member of the Form Matter Lab within the Stuckemen Center for Design Computing at Penn State University. Özgüç specializes in advanced robotic fabrication, machine perception, and computational tool-making. His Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design was obtained from Istanbul Bilgi University. His contributions in the field have been recognized with the Young CAADRIA Award in 2020 from the Association for Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia (CAADRIA), as well as various graduate fellowships at Penn State. Özgüç has experience from Autodesk Research in San Francisco, where he developed spatial perception pipelines for robotic assembly. His research interests include Computer Vision, Human-Robot Interaction, Learning Robots, and Machine Learning. He is currently involved in multiple research projects, including bio-inspired behavioral additive construction, aimed at teaching robots to build in a nature-like manner.
