Biography

P. K. Yeung is a Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in Fluid Mechanics. Yeung obtained his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1989. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech starting in 1992 and held a postdoctoral research associate position at Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on fluid dynamics, turbulence, mixing, dispersion, and high-performance computing. Yeung is particularly interested in understanding complex behaviors in turbulent fluid flows, specifically at high Reynolds numbers. His extensive research includes direct numerical simulation based on exact conservation laws, statistical descriptions of extreme fluctuations, and developments in scalable computational algorithms for numerical simulations on supercomputers. Yeung has made significant advancements in the field, handling simulations involving hundreds of trillions of grid points. He is also a member of the National Science Foundation TeraGrid Science Advisory Board and an American Physical Society Fellow, reflecting his contributions to both research and education in engineering.
