Biography

Ellen-Wien Augustijn specializes in Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) with a focus on technical developments in the field, particularly steering agent behavior and integrating Machine Learning. She has developed a range of agent-based simulation models for various applications, including evacuation plans, the growth of informal settlements, and disease diffusion. Her expertise lies in creating spatial ABMs that consider geo-environmental factors influencing human behavior. Currently, her research explores behavior change through the implementation of artificial intelligence within ABMs. She is actively involved in the ReAShore project, which focuses on modeling the management of Nature-Based Solutions for coastal landscapes, and she is also a project member of the Kappa project, where she models pollen allergies.
