Biography

Pablo Heidrich is an international political economist specializing in natural resources development and international trade policymaking within contexts of financial crises and comparative regionalism. His main focus is on the interplay of ideas, policies, and practices relating to economic development, particularly observing international trade and investment flows and their influence on income distribution and development opportunities in the Global South. Dr. Heidrich has written extensively on Canadian mining investments in Latin America, global trade governance, and negotiations within the World Trade Organization, as well as international cooperation. His current research is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, while his previous work has received funding from the International Development Research Centre, the Ford Foundation, the Marshall Foundation, and the Canadian International Development Agency. He joined Carleton University in 2014, having previously served as a senior researcher in international trade and development at the North-South Institute in Ottawa and as a policy researcher at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Argentina.
