Biography

Paige graduated from the University of Queensland where she completed both her undergraduate studies in Zoology and Biochemistry as well as her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is currently a synthetic biologist at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology, working as a post-doctoral researcher focusing on the development of synthetic yeast strains and engineering microbes to address problems arising from climate change. She has mentored and supervised master's, PhD students, and undergraduates, and has guest lectured in courses covering synthetic biology, microbiology, and ribosome translation. In 2023, she ventured into science comedy, making her debut at the Enmore Theatre during the Sydney Fringe Festival, where she humorously presented on building synthetic genomes as part of a global consortium. She also made a memorable appearance in the 2023 National Science Quiz, successfully avoiding the dreaded slime. Paige is passionate about sharing her research experiences with friends, family, and the general public.
