Biography

Pallab Maulik leads the research department at The George Institute for Global Health in India, specializing in global mental health with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He holds a medical degree and completed his Master’s and Doctoral training with a focus on public health. Maulik has extensive experience with the World Health Organization (WHO) working on mental health programs such as Project Atlas. His research interests encompass social determinants of health, particularly concerning mental health services and disorders, international mental health, and intellectual disability. He is an Intermediate Career Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Fellow, directing a program named SMART Mental Health aimed at providing mobile-based, evidence-based mental health services in rural India. His ongoing research addresses areas such as the stigma of mental health, translating research into practice, and innovative approaches to enhance mental health service delivery in resource-poor settings.
