Dr. Pallavi Gopal

Biography

Pallavi Gopal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in neuropathology. She graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Pennsylvania, earning her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2008 and M.D. in 2009. Dr. Gopal's research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that guide neuronal migration during forebrain development. She completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Neuropathology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also underwent postdoctoral training. Her work has received recognition, including the Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Dr. Gopal's clinical and research interests lie in neurodegenerative diseases, specifically those impacting the brain and nervous system. She investigates how disruptions in messenger RNA (mRNA) regulation contribute to various neurodegenerative conditions, striving to identify new strategies to enhance patients' quality of life. Since joining Yale in January 2018, she has continued to publish valuable research and has collaborated extensively with other researchers in her field.
